India and Cyprus Expand Bilateral Relations at India Commonwealth Dialogue

The India Commonwealth Dialogue, organized by the Indian Economic Trade Organization (IETO) on May 26th at the ITC WelcomHotel in Chennai, brought together diplomats and business leaders to enhance ties between India and Cyprus. High Commissioner of Cyprus to India, H.E. Evagoras Vryonides, graced the event as the guest of honor.

During the dialogue, Hon. Arjundurai Rajasankar was appointed as the Trade Commissioner of Cyprus at the India Commonwealth Trade Council, with the certificate presented by the Cyprus High Commissioner, emphasizing Cyprus’s active role within the Commonwealth.

H.E. Vryonides highlighted the deep-rooted historical connection between India and Cyprus, exploring opportunities for future collaborations in areas such as tourism, visa facilitation for IT professionals, and support for educational endeavors abroad.

Dr. Asif Iqbal, President of IETO, stressed the importance of public-private partnerships in achieving shared goals and fostering lasting relationships for mutual benefit.

The event also marked the launch of a new economic diplomacy initiative by IETO, unveiling the organization’s logo for the first time, aimed at promoting economic ties between India and Cyprus.

Prof. Dr. Ranganathan J, the Honorary Consul to Myanmar, highlighted the enduring friendship between India and Cyprus, rooted in their shared history and emphasized the significance of educational exchanges in poverty alleviation.

The India Commonwealth Dialogue showcased the commitment to strengthen economic, cultural, and diplomatic relations between India and Cyprus, paving the way for enhanced cooperation in the future.
